My first video tutorial ! This one is on how to fill in your eyebrows using eyeshadow / brow powder. I used the Milani Brow Fix Kit. It is super cheap and super useful. The tiny angled brush that comes with it is all I used. Instructions are on the video. I learnt a lot making this video...so hopefully with the coming ones, the quality will improve...

Products Used :

Milani Brow Fix Kit
Spoolie
Q Tip / Cotton Bud

Few Tips For Better & Natural Looking Eye Brows :

1. Always use a big mirror while filling in your brows so you can do them in relation to your face shape and brow shape.

2. After filling your brows always step back and look at the effect it has on your face. Sometimes, brows look excellent up close but when you step back and take a look, they tend to look darker and thicker than natural if not done carefully.

3. Use a brow powder in a color that is one or two shades lighter than the shade of your natural eyebrows.

4. If the color appears dark, use a cotton bud or a Q tip to soften the look and to round off all the edges.

5. If you have unruly brows, use a brow gel to tame them and keep them in place through out the day.
Rec : Anastasia brow gel

6. Never over tweeze . Sometimes they just don't grow back as thick.

Did you find the video useful or do you prefer pictures and texts ? I plan on doing more How To videos now on...depending on the response for this one. Let me know what you think, dolls !

The latest collection from Bobbi Brown - The Nautical Collection is a wonderful follow up to the Blushed Pink Collection that was released earlier this year. The Blushed Pink was soft on the cheeks and lips while the Nautical Collection is sheer all over !

The Nautical Collection includes :

Sheer Color Cheek Tint

Bobbi Brown's Sheer Color Cheek Tint gives cheeks a sheer tint of natural looking color. The translucent, lightweight formula glides on smooth and blends evenly onto skin.

Sheer Raspberry
Sheer Mauve
Sheer Lilac
Sheer Coral
Sheer Pink
Sheer Blackberry

Sheer Color Lip Gloss

Bobbi Brown's newest gloss formula is super sheer ans super wearable. The see through finish makes it easy for any woman to wear the season's punchy shades.

Marina Pink
Cabana Coral
Sailor
Popsicle

I tried out a couple of shades from this collection because I am all about sunscreen and sheer to no makeup during summers. One major thing you will notice about the Sheer Color Lip Glosses is how tiny they are ! The are about an inch or so taller than the Cheek Tints - that's all ! I got the Sheer Color Lip Gloss in Popsicle - a pretty pink that adds just a hint of color and lots of glossiness to my lips. It is perfect for a clean natural look !

The Sheer Color Cheek Tints are everything they say it is - sheer, super wearable and blends very easily onto my cheeks. It leaves a dewy, translucent color enough to get the girl next to you jealous about your modelesque skin. I tried them in Sheer Mauve and Sheer Raspberry. Sheer Mauve is a pretty neutral shade that will be wonderful for work. Sheer Raspberry is the uber pretty, raspberry pink that I cant stop gushing over ! It is just as pretty on my lips as it is on my cheeks !

The Sheer Color Lip Glosses stay shiny and moisturizing for a very long time ! Unfortunately the same cant be said for the cheek tints. But given the ease of application, you can always pop em into your bag and add a dot or two when needed.

Overall given my summer makeup history, this is great collection ! Its all about flushed cheeks and juicy sheer lips !

Have you checked out The Nautical Collection ? Were you just as surprised over the size of the lip tints ?

"I love sheer washes of color for summer - they're wearable, easy and look good on everyone"- Bobbi Brown

Hiya Ladies ! Happy Monday !

Your friend here, has a long day in front of her. I wont be able to post anything until later today. But there are lots of things to do on AIMB !

Have you entered the Biore Skin Preservation Skincare Giveaway ! If not you must ! Three lucky readers will win the complete set of products from this line ! Find more details here.

There are still a few pics missing even after staying up till 2 AM last night. Those will have to be fixed too. Amidst doing the mechanical job of loading the pics...I couldn't help but think about my blog and what makeup meant to me. Despite loving make up SO much, you should know I don't walk around with a full face of makeup everyday. Most often I am bare faced, save for some bronzer ...

I got thinking what if makeup did not exist. Would I still be happy ? Yes. Why? What do I love about my face ? My favorites are my cheeks and lips. Chubby cheeks and full lips, not desirably by many but I love mine. On models cheek bones are a yes, and cheeks might be considered a horror to live with. But not on me, I'm just a regular girl. Where some see flaws , others see beauty. Growing up I always felt like my lips were too big but now, they fit perfectly well on my face or I think they do. Either way I'm happy. As cliched as it might sound, guess its all about being comfortable in our own skin. It is about seeing beauty in ourselves. If we don't, not many others will. It is about being happy with what we have been given and making them work, makeup or no makeup.

So, the question remains...what do you love about yourself ? Reflect and let me know in the comments below ...

It has been a great weekend pour moi, so far ! Friday evening I got all dolled up and went shopping ! Because I am so choosy with my clothes, I almost always never find much that I like. But then my eyes fell upon this cute summery cotton plaid jacket and everything changed ! It was so worth me spending 30 minutes getting ready that evening. Yesterday, the blistering heat was back in TX which generally gets your girl just as foul as Kanye West always is. But I had made plans for a picnic with a couple of girlfriends and meeting them had me in good spirits ! It was a total blast ! The two things I have to thank for are the wonderful trees and my Clinique Face Cream SPF 30. Sunday, at best has been lazy so far. Woke up at ....ehhh...11:00 AM. No I'm lying, more like 11:30. Nope, it was 12:30. I am ashamed to admit it...but izzz okay right ? Izz cool !

This is what I wore on Friday, for my shopping trip. Its all courtesy Urban Decay Get Baked Eye Shadow Palette ($28). The colors in the palette are super vibrant but since it remains bright until 8 here, I had to tone it down a bit. I did the whole look and then took a cotton bud and lightly ran over my lid so the excess color comes off and makes my eyes day time friendly.

The Get Baked Palette is part of Urban Decay's Summer 2009 release. Its a cute hand size palette with 4 shadows, a mini 24/7 eyeliner pencil - bourbon and a mini eyeshadow primer - Sin. The four shades include :

Half Baked (a light golden bronze)
Baked (medium copper)
Twice Baked (shimmering deep brown)
Flipside (electric teal)

Like I mentioned before, the colors are deeply pigmented and adding them over the primer makes them even more vibrant and long staying. For my look, I applied the Sin primer all over my lid. Applied a layer of Flipside all over the lid. Follow it up with Twice baked under the brow bone, blending it with Flipside along the crease. Add a dash of mascara and voila - a fun and quick summer look ! If you're really into blues and color this summer you can also pair it with the Flipside Mascara but I wanted to keep it relatively simple.

Have you taken a look at this handy palette ? If you're thinking about buying then I'd say go ahead and get it. Especially, if you missed out on the Estee Lauder Sand & Sea Palette which also features a bunch of bronze and blue shades. You can find these at Ulta, Sephora, Macys.com or on their website urbandecay.com

A couple of weeks back, everybody at AIMB had a chance to submit their burning concealer questions, so the pros at Three Custom Color Specialists could answer them for us. The answers are in and there is SO much that I learn't reading them ! You will too ! BIG thank yous to all you guys who submitted your questions and a BIG thank you to Trae Bodge, Co - Founder and Creative Director at Three Custom Color Specialists for her patience and for taking the time out to answer all our questions.

1. Don't you think it would be an awesome idea for under eye concealers to be loaded with SPF? To prevent them from the harmful sun and from darkening?? (HI)

We actually believe that SPF should be accounted for in skincare, rather than makeup. Because concealers can generally be used for multiple areas on the face (eyes, around the nose, chin, etc.), the SPF distribution on the face would be uneven. In addition, high SPF's have a tendency to throw off concealer and foundation colors, often making them appear ashy, especially in the darker range.

2. I'm very pale and have transparent skin... unfortunately, that means I have dark circles. Whenever I use a concealer under my eyes though, it either slides off or cakes up. How can I avoid this/ do you have any product recommendations? I'd like to keep the skin around my eyes dewy-looking and fresh, but want a concealer that stays put. Help! (CONSIDERMYLILLIES)

We recommend that you give your eye cream some time to absorb before applying your concealer, because the oils in rich eye creams often cause concealers to slide. Caking, on the other hand, generally happens when the skin (or the concealer formulation) is too dry, so moisturize well, allow the moisturizer to absorb and then apply a rich, creamy concealer (like ours! http://www.threecustom.com/home.php?cat=276). Set with translucent powder (http://www.threecustom.com/home.php?cat=277) to enhance the wear.

3. What is the best way to conceal dark under-eye circles for fair skin, and have it last ALL day? Any products with SPF that they could recommend? (JESSICA)

The best way to conceal dark circles on any skin tone is to use a concealer shade a touch lighter than your natural skin tone. This should be applied after any foundation or tinted moisturizer. Set with translucent powder for extra long wear. See above for SPF question.

4. I applied concealer once and when I took a photograph with flash on ...I could see the spots where I have applied..although without flash you would not make out and looks like a smooth skin..where am I wrong. (SONAL)

Concealers that have light reflecting properties, i.e. a pearlescent shimmer that gives the appearance of smoother skin, tend to glow a bit when photographed with a flash. Try using a concealer that does not have these properties - words to look out for in the product name "light reflecting, highlighting, glowing", etc.

5. I noticed that when I apply concealer on blemishes or old acne scars, it looks fine in doors but becomes really obvious when I step out in the sun. What can I do to avoid this? Thanks! :) (HUINEE)

The best way to cover blemishes or scars is to use a shade that matches or is slightly darker than your natural skin tone. This is a softer approach that should appear less obvious than if you approached the spots with a lighter color (like you would use under your eyes).

6. To add to some of the questions above, I always find that indoors my make-up works fine and acne doesn't show so much. However, the minute you put me under natural sun light, the colouring of my skin is uneven and scars, acne etc, not to mention the fact that I've tried to conceal it, is in plain view. What am I doing wrong? (HIBA)

You're not doing anything wrong, per se, you're just not doing your makeup under the best light! Halogen bulbs are the closest to natural sunlight, so I would recommend investing in a makeup light with halogen bulbs so you can get the truest sense of the colors you are using. At our Color Studio in NYC, we use very bright halogen lights. When someone looks gorgeous here, she will look gorgeous under any light source.

7. Do you think a primer is necessary if I only use concealer and face powder? (HUINEE)

I think primers are a great solution for people who have trouble with makeup wearing off very quickly or have an uneven skin texture that they wish to address. Some primers also have sunscreen and treatment properties so they can make up for qualities that your skin care might lack. Here are my favorites: http://www.alisonraffaele.comsearchresult.aspx?CategoryID=72
If you do not have these issues, using concealer and powder should be just fine!

8. I have combination skin (oily t-zone, dry sides of the face), what kind of concealer would be best for me?(ARPITA)

Our Creme Concealer/Foundation is great for all skin types, so of course I would firstly recommend ours! But, there are a lot of wonderful products out that, including options specific to skin type. I would read the labels and see what skin type certain formulations are recommended for. In addition, if you have personal preferences for formulation and delivery systems, i.e. cream in a compact vs cream in a stick, liquid, mineral powder, etc., so you should take your preference into account.

9. I have acne and oily skin....so what’s the best way to get the best from concealer? (NYRA)

See above on formulations. If you are specifically trying to treat your blemishes, you should seek out a formulation that is specific to that concern and then use your formula of choice for the rest of the face.

10. Is face concealer supposed to go on before or after foundation? I've gotten mixed advice on it. What's the reason behind doing it either way? (ARPITA)

Concealer should go on after foundation/tinted moisturizer if you are using two separate products. Foundation tends to be rubbed on in a thin layer and concealer is patted or dabbed on more thickly, so the thinner formulation should go on first. If you patted on the concealer first and then rubbed on the foundation, you would likely cause the concealer to dissipate somewhat, undoing some of the work you had just done!

11. Which eye concealer would be best for dark circles? (ARPITA)

See above

12. I've been blessed with a noticeable crease under my eyes. How can I stop concealer from settling in that crease? Or better yet is there a product (primer or something) that I can use to fill or smoothen the creases so they don't look obvious (MISHA)

There are a lot of eye primers out there, but I have to say that I haven't found one that really works for this issue. I haven't tried them all though, so it's worth experimenting! Another solution is to use the tips that I've given above about how to extend the wear of your concealer. That alone might solve the crease issue.

13. What's a real good concealer for blue purple circles?

Dark circles are all generally blue-ish/purple. The best way to combat this is with a shade that is slightly lighter that your natural skin tone. To get more aggressive, you can "tone" the area first, with a peach-toned concealer, then apply regular concealer on top. Another trick is to use a light reflecting concealer, or to simply sweep a soft powder shimmer over your concealer to create light reflection.

14. Could you please give us a basic concealer guide on how to choose concealer shades for a particular skin tone?

I can only really assist you as it pertains to the Three Custom Color concealers. Click here (http://www.threecustom.com/home.php?cat=321) to choose the model who's skin tone most closely matches yours. Click on that model to see what shade she is wearing.

Soon after posting on my love for the New Estee Lauder Double Wear Shadow Creme and Eye liners, lovely reader Andy from Chicago, wrote to me saying ...

"I love your columns......
Since you love the Estee Lauder Creme Double Wear shadows...I need for you to help me pick the look for my everyday summer look. I'm going crazy because I love them all..I am so not good at picking the correct colors to bring out my hazel eyes. I have a lot of pink in my skin so..I avoid purples. I am blonde and I really need a fun summer new look....

If you can pick out a double wear pot shadow and a double wear liner, I would be oh so appreciative. Any idea for a full summer look?
Thank you sooooooooo much
Andy"

So I got to work and requested Rick DeCecca, the Global Makeup Stylist for Estee Lauder to help Andy out.

As a Global Makeup Stylist, Rick works with Estee Lauder to help determine color and trend direction for the Brand’s makeup looks. He travels the world as a roving Brand ambassador and creative consultant. A master teacher, Rick helps educate and train Estee Lauder Makeup Artists and Beauty Advisors in the US and internationally.

Rick is master of what he calls, “real beauty,” or the belief that any woman can be beautiful. He’s worked with world-renowned supermodels, but he takes his greatest pride in the work he’s done to help women battling cancer feel like supermodels in their own right. Rick says he gets the most enjoyment from working with “real” women. “I work with women with lives, with kids, with time constraints. Making them look great and feel better in a limited amount of time is what we’re all about. Estee Lauder used to say our goal is to make every woman beautiful, and I believe in that philosophy completely.”

So what did Rick recommend for our real woman, Andy ? Let see...

Apply Ivory Lace Double Wear Shadowcreme over entire eye lid area - blend from the lash line while buffing with fingertip up over lid to brow. Then apply Precious Jade Double Wear Shadowcreme all over lid area buffing into crease to soften the definition.

The next step is to smudge Double Wear Eye Liner in Onyx along upper lash line and Bronze along lower lash line. Finish with TurboLash or Sumptuous Mascara in Black.

At night use Double Wear Shadowcreme in Sea Mist in place of Precious Jade.

And, it does not end there ! Andy, get ready to rock your summer look because YOU WILL BE RECEIVING ALL THE RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS soon !!! Girl, you're gonna look dashing this summer with this customized look made just for you ! Now tell me, don't you just love it !!

So, keep your questions, thoughts and comments coming because you never know when you might just be picked for a surprise giveaway just like this one !

Like I've always said ...drugstore shampoos and conditioners are great ! They work very well for me. Most spas and high end hair care stores take pride in their "sulfate free " products but somehow they never worked on my hair and they cost a bomb ! But a lot of women seem to be moving away from regular shampoos to sulfate free ones. The sulfate in regular shampoos supposedly strip our hair of moisture and color. Loreal took note of all this and came out with their own version of a sulfate free shampoo and condi for drugstore queens like me.

After having had a pretty good experience with their Vive Pro line I was excited to see what this does to my hair. I tried the Ever Pure Shampoo in Rosemary Mint and the Conditioner in Rosemary Juniper. Both the scents were super refreshing and left my hair smelling fresh ! The rosemary mint might be a little strong if you've never used a mint shampoo before. But with time I'm sure it'll grow on you.

Though it is sulfate free, the shampoo creates mad lather ! I love it ! It cleans without drying and for $6.99, it turned out to be a very good product. The conditioner followed up just as good with its creamy texture and good moisturizing properties. Overall they worked just as well as the Vive Pro did. Very very good but not outta the world.

Have you tried the Loreal Ever Pure line yet ? What did you think of it ? What is your fav drugstore shampoo & condi ? I am looking out for a new combo now and would love to hear whats doing ti for you !

The exceptional beauty of the secluded Seychelles islands off the east coast of Africa once inspired the tale of the Garden of Eden. On a recent trip, one of our Founders, Chad Hayduk, was so moved by the legendary allure of the Seychelles that he was inspired to create this luscious collection. Each irresistibly fresh shade celebrates the natural beauty and vibrant colors of some of the rarest species of flora on earth.

I love that Three Custom Color Specialists Collections are often inspired by personal experiences of the founders. Makes them so much more special !

Happy Hump Day, Ladies ! Cant believe its almost mid week ! Whats getting me excited on this boring Wednesday, you ask ? Its the glow I've been faking with Prescriptives Mineral Color Kit !
Prescriptives is the newest member to the Mineral Makeup Family. With the sheer number of mineral makeup companies out there, it gets pretty over whelming to find a brand that one is can be sure of with quality and safety. That is why I think it is safe to trust big names like MAC & Prescriptives.

Its star ingredient is the R.E.C. (Radiance Emitting Crystals) complex -- a unique combination of Amethyst, Rose Quartz and Calcite -- so it absorbs light and delivers radiance and luminosity so skin appears to be “glowing from within.” Bright gems and minerals infused with vitamins create a look that is healthy, luminous and breathtaking.

The Mineral Color Line includes
Making Faces Mineral Kit ($37.50)
Warm Light/Medium
Warm Medium/Deep
Cool Light/Medium
Cool Medium/Deep

Making Eyes Mineral Kit($37.50)
Warm
Cool

Mineral Bronzer ($30)
Warm
Cool

Mineral Lip Gloss ($17.50)
Amber (Warm)
Sunstone (Warm)
Rose Quartz (Cool)
Amethyst (Cool

I tried out the Making Faces Mineral Kit in Warm Medium / Deep and the Making Eyes Kit in Warm. First thoughts - they are both great value for money. You'll see why...

With my Making Faces Mineral Kit I received a Mineral Color for Cheeks ( blush) in Terrastone - a very pretty warm terracotta shade with a hint of shimmer, a Loose Lighting Powder in Deep - a golden bronze shade and a very soft travel sized blush brush. Terrastone is very pretty color for you are above NC 45. On me it was kinda dark but with a light hand I think i can make it work . The loose lighting powder worked great for me ! It can be used for contour, highlight and as an all over bronzer ! Because it is so finely milled, the colors spread easily and form a thin vibrant layer on the skin making me look all glowy, naturally !

The Making Eyes Mineral Kit came with three shadows and a flat eyeshadow brush. The three shades in the warm kit includes, Sand crystal (highlight), Copper Crustal ( all over lid color), Earth Crystal ( crease color). The colors are all brilliant in their vibrancy and pigmentation. As with all loose shadows, I highly recommend a primer to avoid fall outs and to make them stay on longer. The only issue I have is with the packaging. The shadows come in cute tiny jars which you pop open and dip your brush into. I only wish it had a sifter so I don't have to worry about the product spilling, when I don't keep em upright.

Overall, a great buy ! For $37.50 I get 2 / 3 products in decent sizes and a very useful brush. Plus the colors are coordinated to suit warm / cool skin tones. This apart all the products in this line are oil free, fragrance free, talc free, dermatologist tested and non-acnegenic ! Its a great buy if you are looking to start out on makeup and for mineral makeup lovers in general.

Have you tried the new Mineral Color from Prescriptives ?

Love,
Indian Girl

PS : I wrote the post once and it got deleted thanks to blogger. I must really like a product to write the whole post again and I did. Now am off ! Over and out.

Lovely reader and Bride to be Reena requested this look for her to try out at her wedding ! Exciting stuff ! The bride in the picture was just a random picture I found online. I tried to do my look as close to this requested look as possible but I used a little more gold than the champagne used in the picture. Overall it took me 10 minutes to do the look and 15 minutes to apply the lashes. I've got to learn how to do it faster ;)

Products Used & Description :

1. Apply concealer all over the lid.
I used Three Custom Color Specialists Concealer in #6

2. Apply a primer all over the lid
I used Urban Decay Sin primer

3. Apply a champagne/gold colored creme shadow all over the lid and under brows
I used Estee Lauder Shadow Creme in Golden Apricot

4. Apply a bronze shadow starting on the inner corner of the eye and up to about half the lid.

5. Apply a gold shadow starting middle of the lid to the outer half

6. Apply a deep burgundy color along the outer corner and crease

For steps 4,5,6 I used the colors in Estee Lauder Sand & Sea Shadow Palette from the Bronze Goddess Collection

7. Blend, the bronze into the gold, the gold into the burgundy.

8. Apply the highlight - a pink-gold color on the brow bone , under the brows . The highlight in this look is kinda heavy.
I used Alima Minerals Blush in Tea Rose & Becca Shadow in Venise.

9. Apply a liquid liner along the upper lash line and wing it out. Add a pencil liner along the lower lash line / water line.
I used Prestige liquid liner & Urban Decay Liner in Zero

10. Curl your lashes, apply mascara , false lashes. Do your brows
I used NYX lashes in EL 113, Milani Brow Pencil, Milani Brow Kit

11. On the lips I paired the look with a pretty pink with a hint of mauve and gold with some sparkly gloss
I used Pur Minerals Lipstick in Golden Zincite with Sally Hansen Lipnotic Gem Gloss in Sparkling

Thats it !

The New Skin preservation Line from Biore is aimed at a whole lot of you and me - the in betweens. All of us in the twenties start seeing changes in our skin. Between 20 and 25 I had some of my best skin years...now that I am 25 I feel like I see a few things creeping outta no where. Those teeny fine lines..where do they come from ! I wish I could turn my biological clock back to 21. This new line from one of my favorite skin care brands promises to help me get through these transition years without a whole lot of damage that could occur otherwise.

The entire collection is formulated with exclusive Botanamide™ Technology, comprised of a ceramide-based technology to strengthen the skin’s essential barrier and a blend of botanical antioxidants including Blue Lotus and White Tea extracts to block and help neutralize free radicals. For the first time, formerly forgotten women can fight the signs of aging before they even appear while meeting their skin’s needs now.

I tried the Fortifying Eye Cream and the Overnight Moisturizer both of which exceeded my expectations ! The fortifying eye cream comes in a tube that makes it easy to take out as little as possible. Remember we don't a whole lot of product for the eye area. The cream adds just the right amount of moisture to my dry lids and under eyes. A heavy eye cream could cause milia so it is always essential to find one that adds a balanced amount of moisture. The Overnight Moisturizer is a little on the heavy side but not like most night creams. It has a gel like consistency which makes it easy to sink into the skin without leaving any oily residue. Ive been using both these products day and night for the past two weeks. They haven't broken me out and have kept my dehydrated skin feeling very pleasant !

I love Kate Walsh. She is very pretty and has really beautiful eyes . I absolutely love her clothes in Private Practice which happens to be one of my most favorite shows. But this look is just not working from any angle. What is that jumper suit ? She looks like a bottle of Fanta. And the hair isn't doing her pretty face any favors. Its hard to belive the uber stylish Dr. Addisson Montgomery chose to wear this. I hope this isn't a trend at all....and I hope it stops there.

Mascaras have always been black for me. All of the 20 or so odd mascaras I have in my stash ...are all black. Black black, Deep Black, Very Black, Blackest Black and Black. So when I got my hands on Urban Decay's Big Fatty Mascara in Flipside....I did not have anything on my mind other than the color !

The blue-ish green color was just calling out to me...telling me it would make the whites of my eyes look whiter and I would look brighter and cuter ! Oh how could I resist it !It packs mad color y'all ! One swipe and the tips are colored, another and a few more are. But with a third stroke my lashes were transformed into this beautiful blue green color of the ocean ! I loved it !

Color apart, other things to take note of is the size of the tube. Its kinda on the smaller side but the smaller wand gives me more control I think. However four coats( don't blame me, I wanted them as blue as possible !) led to some clumping. So I ran a lash comb over my lashes to get rid of those. No fallouts, thank God ! I don't wanna be seen with blue streaks under my eyes. Imagine the horror ! Point to remember - they don't look natural but isn't that the point ? To move away from the same old...same old...

Blue lashes are great ! However, I didn't wanna take it any further. So I paired my bold lashes with a sheer pink lip gloss - Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Gloss in James. The rest of my face had nothing on it. Overall like I mentioned on Twitter - Its different, its new, but the more I see it, the more I love it !

Have you tried colored mascaras before ? How do you wear yours ?

The Spring break might be over, but the tanning season has just begun ! If you're not careful you could easily end up getting sunburnt ! The latest victim to the merciless rays of the Sun God was Kim Kardashian. Poor thing got Kim-burnt. Ouch !

Tanning is best avoided unless it is done safe with tanning sprays and lotions. But if you're a sun worshiper then always remember to use sunscreen before you lay down by the pool. If you still get burnt, then its probably best to avoid the sun.

To soothe your burns try the Clinique After Sun Rescue Balm ($20). Apply it all over the sun burnt area to help calm the skin. Aloe has always been known to have soothing effect on our skin. The cool gel takes care of the irritated skin and reduces the burning sensation. Additionally the product also contains Micrococcus Lysate, which helps repair free radical damage caused by the potent rays of the sun. I never go tanning, so I've been using this as a cooling face mask after a run out in the sun. It helps pump back moisture in to my dehydrated face. Even 30 mins out in partial sun, get me all irritated(I get this from my mom). So I always keep some cooling product in the fridge to calm me, more than my skin ;)

Micrococcus lysate is an extract of powerful enzymes. The extract comes from the organism Micrococcus luteus, which is one of the most UV-resistance organisms known to science. Scientific studies have shown that enzymes from this organism are able to support against UV light.Micrococcus lysate is a natural way to assist the skin against the effects of the sun.

Other things you can do , to help with sun burnt skin is to apply chilled yogurt, tomato/ cucumber slices, ground mint leave. These are naturally cooling agents that might give you some much wanted relief. Big thanks to lovely reader Mugdha for the suggestions. What other ideas do you have for calming sun burnt skin. Is there something special that you do ?

Kim, if you're reading, you might wanna try this out. Hope it helps , girl !

Indian Girl

Good Morning Ladies ! Its Friday !! Time to start looking forward to two days of pure laziness ! Are you with me on that ?? It has been raining out here, all morning and I absolutely love the rains. Brings back happy memories when our whole family used to cuddle up and munch on hot savories ! Well no hot savories this morning, but all the green outside my window does have me feeling very organic. Hence the post on The Organic Nail Polish Remover from Karma Organic Spa.

Karma Organic Spa was started by Nausil Zaheer in 2007. Having worked as a Celebrity Manicurist for several years, she was sick of the stink of acetone that followed her everywhere. Soon, she started work on developing her own line of non- toxic, organic nail products and spa. Nausil's Organic, Non Toxic Spa is located in Ridgewood, New Jersey. The line now carries the organic nail polish remover and over 80 shades of nail polish.

* 100% Biodegradable
* 100 % Soy and Corn based
* Non-toxic
* Non-carcinogenic
* Free of any Petroleum Ingredients
* Derived from Farm Crops which in turn supports American farming
* Packaged in 100% recyclable glass bottles
* Comes in Lavendar, Tea Tree, or Unscented

I recently tried out their Organic Nail Polish Remover. The remover comes in three scents - Lavender, Tea Tree & Unscented. I tried the unscented one. Removing nail polish is often a slightly painful process for me, given my super sensitive cuticles. All the brands I've tried till date left my cuticles burning a little bit. This is another reason I never swatch nail polish on my right hand because the cuticles hurt when I'm taking it off. No its not unbearable , but is a little uncomfortable. The Organic Nail Polish Remover completely changed this for me. It takes off the nail polish very efficiently without evoking any reaction from my cuticles. It feels like rubbing oil on my nails. So gentle yet super effective. Plus it feels good, that I'm not using any chemicals on my nails. I remember as a teenager, every time I go out a bottle of nail polish, my mom would remind me of all the chemicals I'm putting on myself. With this, I wont have to worry about that and she wont be able to detect a thing coz it does not carry the heavy smell of regular nail polish removers !

Gotto love this. Gotto get this ! The Karma Organic Spa, Organic Nail Polish Remover retails for $9.99. Read more here

At the WLIFW Autumn 2009 Raghavendra Rathore Show, MAC Artist Martina Luisetti along with Indian Makeup Artist Mickey Contractor created a 50's inspired retro glam look to go with the solid colors in the designers clothes. This is again a very easily do-able look ! Its all about winged eyeliner and dark lips. Very few products were used to create this look which is simple yet stunning !

At the recently concluded Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, the MAC team was responsible for the makeup at Satya Paul's Show. MAC Senior Makeup Artist Vimi Joshi created a luminous look using earthy tones to contrast the bright colors in the designers clothes. The look translates very easily from the runway to real life with just a lighter hand at application ! If you are like me and don't like using foundation on your lips, try this post for more recommendations on nude lip colors for all skin tones.
