I love my Julie Hewett Lipsticks but what I'm currently crushing on is their lip gloss in Harlow. A very pretty sheer deep red gloss with tiny tiny specks of gold. I cant tell you for how long I've been looking for a shade like this. It seems simple right - red + gold . But no. not may people make it the right way at least not the way the way I want it. I love this gloss but realized its magical effect only last week. I had exactly 1 minute to change and leave to go to the movies. In one minute I could only change and had zero time for makeup. Thank God I had Harlow in my purse. Two swipes at the red light and I was feeling great ! The only other thing I used was my to-go foundation from Susan Posnick , another staple in my purse.

Julie Hewett makes only 3 other glosses - Mimi is a sheer pink, Bardot - a bronze, Sophia - a voluptuous mauve. I am dying to try them all. - bronze, pink & mauve ! The texture of Harlow was perfect - non sticky ( I mean it, totally non sticky like its made from Teflon), not thick and gives a good amount of color. I'm hoping the other three will be just as good and with Julie Hewett I don't doubt it. Read more here

Its no news that I LOVE Three Custom Color Specialists. I have been eagerly waiting to see what they put out for Spring 09. This just in, they are putting out (a) - Whisper. Inspired by the runway looks of seductively bronzed cheeks, smoldering eyes and moist, kissable lips at Donna Karan, Milly, Juan Carlos Obando and Carlos Miele they created this set of Whisper Sheer Lipstick & Whisper Lip gloss.

From what I see they look a delicious smoldering bronze shade. The lipstick is said to be build able in its coverage and the lip gloss - smooth & non sticky ! For the bronze loving girl (goddess??) in me, I am loving everything about Whisper! Read more here

Oh wait, they just made this deal a little more juicy by adding a 20% discount on all Three Custom goodies ! It is time for their first annual Sitewide Sale! Receive 20% off through March 15 using coupon code "MARCH" at check out.

Hello Ladies !

After almost a year of having the same green banner, I decided to do a new one with the yellow/ blue, gray theme of my blog. Do you guys like it ? I'd LOVE to know what you think. Change is good...but is it good enough ? Email me or simply leave a comment :)

Also I am planning on changing the layout. I love the simple lay out I have now and what ever I choose to do will be equally simple but just a little more pimped out , I guess. I haven't yet found any design I liked ...but if you have any recommendations or idea, do share. You guys see the blog just as much as I do so I want it to be good for all of us :)

Have you tried the Anywhere Multipurpose Sticks from Prescriptives ? They are super cute creamy foundation sticks that are available in packs of two. Stash one in your purse and one in front of your mirror at home ! Available in whooping 24 long wearing shades( I wear the shade Champagne 04), these caught my attention the very first time I laid my eyes on them. They glide like a primer was already mixed in it making for a flawless application !

With it getting hot already in Texas, I am loving everything that says the magical words SPF. The multipurpose sticks come with SPF 15 & UVA/UVB protection. The other thing I look for is the matte factor . These sticks do provide an excellent matte finish yet keeping it natural. The coverage is easily build able to a full but I usually go for a sheer finish. They are non - acnegenic ( I swear that's a word, I dint make it up)so, sensitive skin will love it too !!

The only flip side is that they don't look great around the eyes so I'd avoid using them as a concealer for under eye dark circles. When I tried them around my eyes trying to cover my barely there dark circles, they settled into unknown lines around my eyes. I really dint know I had them until I was at Macy's trying on some dresses and noticed them ! The rest of my face looked great, almost fresh even after 5 - 6 hours ! Overall a great handy pick me up that works !

I finally tried out Freida's look at Golden Globe Awards. It was one of the first BIG events for the girl and her simple looks got her noticed. I did post earlier about the products used and the description for the look. I did the exact same thing except seeing the products gave me a much better insight into what was done on her.

I started out applying the cream shadow in Cashmere all over the lid and under the brow bone. Next using a flat shadow brush I applied the powder shadow in Amaretto all over lid and crease. Followed it with eyeliner in Vert along the upper lash line, lower water line. Line the lower lash line with Amaretto and add some mascara. Done !

My Experience

This is my first rendezvous with Jouer and I'm blown away with its products. Yesterday I wrote about a blush for brown girls. Today I'm gonna tell you about 3 other products that every girl with medium dark - dark skin tone must have. First in that list is the cream shadow in Cashmere. It is a golden taupe shade that works excellently brown skin. Most champagne shadows tend to be too light but this one is like dark taupey - champagne made to look natural on darker skin tones. Absolute must- have.

Next on the list is the shadow in Amaretto. Actually it is great for any skin tone. You will notice that Freida's look was extremely simple yet attractive. The main attraction factor came from this shadow. Its a beautiful taupe shade with hints of fine bronzy shimmer. Perfect for work or a dinner date, all over lid or the crease - it is that versatile.

The eyeliner in Vert is a great choice to complement the look. It is an olive green shade with a golden sheen to it. I 'm going to call this a peek - a - boo liner. It is for those days when you are looking for some definition for your eyes and need a liner that will make you look like your eyes are naturally that defined. It is very creamy, easy to apply. It wont stay on for long along the water line but is good on the lash line.

This stunning eye look was paired with a deep wine color on the lips. The lip gloss in Monsoon is great but Ilike to pair it with a beautiful bronzed pink lipstick - Nicole. This is the third must have, handy product. The color looks great on a variety of skin tones and is natural & dressy at the same time ! How do I know that ? The ladies on Jouer's website show me so. Have you seen their website ? I love the idea of having four women of different ethnicity and skin tones showing us how each color looks on them ! Makes online shopping such a breeze !

I saved the best for the last - the packaging. When you see these products you will notice that a hella lotta thought went into the packaging. It is one of the most travel friendly products I've seen. Everything comes packed in these crisp, chocolate colored cases and each one can be attached to any another. Its like having my own Jouer LEGO set !! This is extremely useful for Makeup artists who want to pre-pack the products used to create a look. You can attach the shadows together, open em up and start working ! How kool is that !!!!

I cant wait to save up and build my own Jouer fort ! All Jouer products are available at Henri Bendel and at Jouercosmetics.com

I love pink blushes, but pink blushes don't love me. I buy them with the intent of wanting to look girly and fun but end up looking blotchy, like I'd developed rashes. In other words, its Lara Dutta's look I am going for but end up with Amrita. And may be Amrita could carry that off, but on my face it ends up getting me weird stares ...

After several try outs for the perfect pink blush I've found the one. The first time I used it I let out a tiny cry of joy - Girly & Fun nailed - YEAH ! I'll let you in on the secret - the pink blush ain't pink in color. LOL ! Its a nude - rose color, Diamond Rose from Pur Minerals . The rose shade looks so much better and natural on my cheeks than the pink I have been obsessed over for several years. Brown girls, go get this - now. Sometimes, I like to add a bit of a pink bronzer - Jouer's Sunshine over it for some glow. The hint of true pink in the bronzer combined with the the rose on my cheeks gives me just what I wanted - The Lara Look !

Do you have a favorite pink blush or one that makes up for the pink in your life ?

Love the blue John Galliano gown ! The make up & hair is just perfect ! How confident was she on the stage !!

HOW TO GET FRIEDA PINTO’S LOOK

Celebrity stylist, Jeffrey Paul, created a fresh and elegant red carpet hair look for Frieda Pinto. Radiant in John Galliano, Pinto’s hair is divided into three parts and twisted back into an architectural, couture flower shape on the right side of the head. “This look has a beautiful architecture; hair is twisted back into a youthful, feminine flower shape that complements Frieda’s face shape and stunning Galliano gown.”

Products Used & Description

* Start with Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Shampoo and Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Clay Conditioner.
* Mix a cocktail of Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam and Aveda Light Elements Defining Whip. Work the product into wet hair to add texture and volume. “When creating an updo, it’s important to use products that give thickness and
body,” said Paul. “Pinto’s hair already has a lot of shine.

The cocktail of Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam and Aveda Light Elements Defining Whip provided just the right amount of hold, body and texture without weighing hair down.”
* Blow dry hair back to add lift and height at the roots.
* Create a left side part and divide hair into three sections: three quarters of hair in one section on the right and the remaining hair into two smaller sections.
* Pull the right section of hair back into a low ponytail just behind the right ear above the nape of the neck.
* Twist the ponytail, working Aveda Light Elements Defining Whip into hair. Wrap the ponytail around the base, creating a flower shape. Secure in place with pins.
* Work Aveda Light Elements Defining Whip into each of the remaining sections and twist back and around the flower shape, creating a layered, rose-like effect. “The three twists flow together for beautiful movement,” said Paul.
* Finish the look with Aveda Air Control Hair Spray.
* Lastly, shake the head a bit to loosen up the look and provide a sense of natural movement.

Kate looks so radiant every time I see her - any interview, movie anywhere ! She looked beautiful in a multi-toned one shoulder YSL dress.

Celebrity makeup artist Jillian Dempsey wanted to create a classic, natural look. First, she prepped Kate’s skin with LancĂ´me La Base Pro primer to create a smooth canvas for a polished complexion. She lightly brushed LancĂ´me Brow Expert in Naturel on the brows to play up their natural shape. Jillian Dempsey for Avon Pro Eyeshadow Trio in Ice Shimmer was applied to the eyes and the lashes were coated with Jillian Dempsey for Avon Pro Mascara in Black. To create a sheer, neutral colored lip, LancĂ´me Color Fever Lipstick in Old Flame was applied for a soft, matte finish.

Jennifer's braid is super cute. I am so glad she took the fun route and not the opt repeated hair in a bun look. I am so happy for the handsome couple ! No pressure Jen, but I would love to see you two get married !

Heidi had some fierce eye makeup. I'm trying to get a closer shot so we can take a good look at the gorgeous make up !

Have you seen the Curious Case of Benjamin Button ? Taraji did such a great job in it . Gotto love the classic black smokey eye - nude lip !

Anne Hathaway looks super happy ! And how great was her opening act !!She wore a sparkling jewel encrusted Armani PrivĂ© gown. Her makeup look was sophisticated and elegant. Anne’s perfect brows framed her face and her long, lush lashes really made her eyes pop. She donned a deep berry-toned lip to complete her look.

To get Anne’s look, try LancĂ´me Le Crayon Poudre in Sable to fill in and shape the brows. Lightly dust LancĂ´me Color Design Eye Shadow in Ciel du Soir over the entire eyelid followed by Le Crayon KhĂ´l in Black Ebony applied to the upper lash line. Lightly smudge so there are no harsh lines. Apply several coats of LancĂ´me Ă”scillation Mascara for a faux-lash effect. For just a hint of color, dust LancĂ´me Blush Subtil in Sheer Amourose on the apples of the cheeks. To create her berry stained pout, apply LancĂ´me Color Fever Lipstick in Brickhouse.

Angelina Jolie looked great in the black strapless Elie Saab gown paired with beautiful emerald-colored jewels. I love emeralds but like them a shade deeper than what Angelina wore. She stuck her nude makeup look but I got no complaints with that.

Celebrity makeup artist Mary Burton created Angelina’s flawless look. Mary applied Le Crayon KhĂ´l in Black Ebony to the upper and lower lash lines. She emphasized the shape of Angelina’s eyes by applying more liner to the outer corners of the eye. Several coats of Ă”scillation Mascara were applied to the upper lashes for added volume and length. Mary put a touch of pink to the cheeks using Shu Uemura Blush in M Pink 31 and applied it to her cheekbones near the temple. To create ultra-shiny and luminous lips, Mary used Juicy Tubes in Spring Fling.

I started off on this look after checking out the MAC Hello Kitty Collection Face charts. I thought the STYLIN look was awesome because I've been wanting to play purples a little more. However , I added a little bit of my touch too and this is what I ended up with. I dint want purple to overtake the whole eye, so I did not add many layers of it. I like that its weirdly soft and dramatic at the same time because of the soft purple & the heavy liner. You agree ?

Also, readers Hiba & Quidz104 requested a look to go with fancy Indian outfits / going to a Shaadi (wedding) looks. I think this would fit that profile too :) The shimmery pink - champagne / purple combo is easy to rock with similar / contrasting colors of fancy Indian clothes !

Products Used and Description :

1. Apply concealer all over the lids and under the eye covering any dark circles. Dust some loose powder very lightly over it to set the concealer.
I used Clinique All About Eyes Concealer in Medium Beige

2. Apply a primer or cream shadow as a base all over the lid.
I used Urban Decay Cream Eye Shadow in Whipped

3. Apply a pink-champagne color all over the lid
I used a similar color from the Sleek Palette.

4. Apply a purple shade all along the crease.
I used the purple from the Sleek Palette

5. Apply just a bit black shadow on the outer and inner part of the crease. Careful not to add a lot on the inner corner, it can make one look dull.
Black also from the Sleek Palette

6. Blend the purple and the black so the colors are concentrated on the corners and fade away towards the middle of the eye.

7. Use a liquid liner and line the upper lash line, wing it out at the edge.
I used Prestige Liquid Liner in Black

8. Use a black pencil liner to liner the water liner and lower lash line
I use Urban Decay Zero

9. Using an eyeliner brush line the lower lash line with the purple shade.

10. Apply a glitter eyeliner in purple over the purple shadow.
I used Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eye Liner in Metal Head

11. Do your brows and add some mascara.
I used Anastasia Brow Kit Powder & Loreal Double Extend Mascara.

Thats it !

THE NOT SO RIGHT WAY
Heavy eyes and strong lips look could possibly look okay in a Bollywood movie, but in real life it wont. The girl looks beautiful nonetheless ! But for a everyday version of it, skip the heavy eye shadow and go easy on the bronzer, blush.

THE RIGHT WAY
Keep the rest of the face fresh & simple , so your red lips can take the center stage !

Love the red lip look ? Try out these posts here & here.

Did you watch Grey's Anatomy last night ? Then you'll remember this song. Beautiful and soothing, almost like a lullaby. Oh also, what did you think about the fight ? Team McSteamy ...LOL !

I still remember the first time I got my brows threaded. My cousin and I had plotted the plan for weeks and finally the day had come. I hadn't told my mom and was a little scared to see how she would react to it. I remember coming home looking into my mirror and suddenly feeling all grown up and girly. The bushy boy brows were all gone ! Well, the lady hadn't done a great job and consequently I went through years of weird eye brow shapes....some days worse than other. Forget sisters / twins my brows looked like they were each from a different planet. That's when I took things into my own hands. I started tweezing them on my own and have ever since. That and thanks to some good eyebrow powder / pencils I now have pretty good brows...

One such brow saving product is the six piece kit from Anastasia. Seriously its all you need and more for achieving perfect brows on your own. The kit consists of

Tweezers
Brow Powder
5 Brow Stencils
Mini Duo Brush
Clear Brow Gel
Matte Highlighter Pencil ( Camille)

The tweezers are great - very sharp, slanted and great grip. I got the brow powder in Medium Ash - it works perfectly for my skin tone. The other colors include Ash Blonde, Brunette & Ebony. The brow stencils are the most fun part of the kit. I've been obsessed with them for over two weeks now. Every night I sit with my mirror trying the stencils on my brows and seeing the effect they have. I have finally figured out that the first half of my brow fits perfectly with the HIGH ARCH stencil and for the other half I use a free hand. It is very easy to fit one of the stencils to your brow shape. Even if they don't exactly cover the whole brow from start to finish they provide for an excellent base to lightly draw a shape. This is especially useful if you have over tweezed or if want to make thin brows look a bit fuller. After that you can always use the powder without the stencil to account for areas that did not fit in the stencil. Its a lot of fun and gives you & your brows a whole another look !

Tools aside, the best and the most useful thing in the kit is the instructional CD on how to groom your brows. Trust me, seeing the video taught me a hella lot . If you get this kit, the first thing to do is to see the video. Its only about 7 - 8 minutes long and Anastasia is crisp and clear with her instructions. I was doing it all wrong with the highlighter. You have to use it only on the outer half of your brow not under the whole brow !! Plus the highlighter makes a huge difference in terms of brightening up the area and making your brows more "visible".

The only advice I have is to use as less powder as possible. Start slow and with some practice your hand will automatically reach for just the amount you need. What I did to tone down excess color was to run a Q tip over my brows and then go over it with the spoolie.

Overall I think its a very very good $75 investment on your brows. You wont be needing anything else, brow-wise for a real long time given the good size and quality of the products. You can get the kit at Ulta, Sephora or can order it online. Read more on the kit here

Razors...well what a difference they make in our lives ! For the past two years I have tried everything from the Venus Razors - the Divine, Original Venus, the Spa one,the disposables, almost everything they make. I have always been clumsy with razors....I used to have a cut every single time until I started using these. The soft cushion-y pads just don't let cuts happen ! Plus the moisture strips in the Divine razors are super good. You will never feel like you are playing with something as sharp as a blade.

Until now, I thought the 3 blades were more than enough but now I'm addicted to the new five blade Venus Embrace. I mean, imagine five blades ! Its like one stroke with this razor is equal to five single blade strokes ! The smoothness is like nothing you would have felt before. Like all the other regular Venus razors, this one also has the soft handle and a neck that bends for all those hard to reach places. Plus if you buy the pack you also get a shower pod that helps you hang your razor safely in the shower. No more blades lying around !

I cant recommend these enough - they are the best. Get any one of them or get everything but don't get the disposables. THEY SUCK. Seriously, I felt like it was peeling my skin off and even a new one left me burning like hell. The regular ones are great and I'm gonna stick to them :)

I cant talk about razors without thinking of that FRIENDS episode where Joey had to shave his leg off to keep Monica & Chandler's secret... LOL ! I looked all around Youtube for that video but couldn't find it. So I'm posting an oldie goldie instead. Enjoy !
