For people with dry skin, I would say this the closest one can come to a natural magic potion.

According to wiki -Undecylenic acid, a castor oil derivative, is also FDA-approved for over-the-counter use on skin disorders or skin problems.Ricinoleic acid is the main component of castor oil and it exerts anti-inflammatory effects. I know for a fact that in the olden days, people in India used to take a tablespoon of this oil every morning. It is known to cleanse the system of many toxins.

Whenever, I neglect my skin or treat it badly, it tends to become super dry and the skin starts to peel off in patches. I have 2 wonder drugs which have helped me through these unfortunate days - one being castor oil. Its best to apply the oil on slightly damp face, as it absorbs better leaving behind skin softer than ....well you know what I mean.

Also, if you seem to be breaking out for no reason or have those ugly tiny pimple kinda things appearing all over your body/ face castor oil could help you! In India it is believed that too much body heat could lead to such break outs. Castor oil helps reduce this heat. All you need to do is, warm some oil , and rub it on your scalp, in the center of your head. You will feel the heat dissipating out and tears running out from your eyes. If this happens - you did have a " hot " body and need to cool it down.

Now coming to what I love to use it for - Lengthening Lashes !! Yes, it works!!

You see, I have 2 friends - Uma and DJ who have absolutely fabulous - never need to use mascara -long lashes. While Uma has her mom's genes to thank for it , DJ doesnt. She recollects her mom rubbing castor oil into her lashes every night when she was a little girl and absolutely hating it then. But now, she cant get enough compliments on them !! I have myself tried it and it did lengthen mine a little bit. I have myself to blame for the not so extraordinary effects, coz I am bad at being religious with my beauty routine. But you divas are not like me !! So, every night along with your other beauty routines, do try to rub a little oil along your lash line and be religious at it.
SO,go on , give it a try.Am telling you, you wont be disappointed. You can buy it at any Indian store and costs less than $5. Its also available at CVS and Walmart.

Wow, castor oil? Who would have thunk! My mom used to make me drink a spoonful every night; it was awful but perhaps now I should try it again.
Great blog and keep it up!

there was a discussion on makeupalley about putting castor/olive oil/any oil on eyebrows/lashes. alot of the younger girls were saying it works but alot of the older women were saying to stay away from it. i rmbr one woman commented that she used castor oil on her lashes since she was a little girl and on her wedding day twenty years later she had the most beautiful lashes but now at 50something she has three lashes on each eye and no eyebrows. after that i stopped using any oil on my lashes/brows.
