Orissa Cosmetics is a new line of mineral makeup, specially developed for ethnic women. So, of course I was interested in introducing them to y'all ! With approximately 3.6million of the UK’s population representing Black African/Black Caribbean/Indian/Pakistani minority [Census, 2001], Orissa Cosmetics aims to plug the gap in the market by providing a perfect match for women with darker skin tones.

The line, founded by Bhimal Hira and Mona Parkeh includes carefully selected shades of foundations, blushers, bronzers and eye shadows that promise to dramatically enhance and perfectly match darker skin tones.

The entire range is hand made using crushed natural earth minerals that is easy to apply, allows skin to breath throughout the day, does not require constant re-application, has a natural UVA/UVB protection (SPF 15-20) and is highly water and humid resistant.

The line lists the following as Key Benefits of using their foundations

- Natural Sun Protection Factor (SPF15-30),
- Help's hydrate and protect your skin,
- Highly water and humidity resistant,
- Variable coverage from a sheer natural glow to full on cover,
- Will not smear, crease or settle in wrinkle,
- Natural and flawless look and feel,
- Oil absorbing... no more shine,
- Extremely light-weight,
- No chemicals, dyes, oil and talc free,
- Foundation ideal for brown, black and indian women

Sounds good to me ! Have any of you tried this line before ?

You can visit them at www.orissacosmetics.co.uk. The site is still under construction and more shades of blushes , lip glosses and eyeshadow will be added soon. They also have a free samples program going on right now. So, if you live in the U.K I'd highly recommend checking them out and making good use of the free samples.

Love,
Indian Girl
PS : I tried out one of their eyeshadows. I will have a look up using it later today.

Hello,

Hello from Orissa Cosmetics!!

One of the founders is indeed Indian but not from Orissa in India; when the company started up we were looking for a name that people would easily remember along with a logo that is easily recognisable and rememberable - then came together the brand name 'Orissa Cosmetics' and the Peacock logo. This combination has worked very well for us.

Anyway, all US readers can order by visiting our website (www.orissacosmetics.co.uk), when you checkout select the 'International' option.
