I'm sure you've heard this plenty of times from different MUAs , read it on several blogs and magazines. But have you tried it ? I am talking about this sentence " The easiest way to get the perfect nude lips is just to dab your concealer/foundation on your lips and add some clear gloss on top" Tadaaa....sounds easy and doable.

I did that, awright ! And this is what I got. Surely not a look I will ever try again. But see, I was willing to show you the terrible monstrosity of concealer on my lips just so you don't have to try it at home and get scurred. This one is not gonna show up on my Monday Make Up Tip Scrolls. Its not one for girls blessed with pigmented lips.

Do you do this ? Temme if I've gotten the trick wrong. I'm all for multipurpose products and if my foundation or concealer can gimme Kim.K lips. I'll do it.

I read a tip in where you dab a tiny bit of your foundation on your lips and then rub it in. After that, you add the clear gloss.

I think the concealer on the lips is to erase the natural lipcolor, so it will be a base for other lipsticks. So the real color of the lipstick / lipgloss can appear on the lips.

I think you only need a little bit ;-)

That's nowhere near a "nude" lip!
I'm going to try it out, though, just for kicks.
My preferred nude is Revlon Crushed Velvet "Naughty Nude" w. gloss.
Pics of that: http://makeshiftmelody.blogspot.com/2009/06/in-nude.html
I will get back to you on how concealer looks on me.

what i do when i wanted really nude lips is i use lip pencil to line my whole lips...to prevent the concealer from setting into the line.
then use concealer..
then put a nude gloss over it

Maybe you put a clear gloss that's why you got that look?
Try putting a gloss that's real nude over your concealer & you won't have much prob

Oh my gosh I naturally have cadaver lips which is so not cute like the actual nude lip trend. Especially I got dark spots on there! I just can't get down with the true nude lips, they are scary.

why dont u try using a foundation that is one or two shade darker than your skin tone and apply a dark brown lipstick to make it look more au naturale..

I have tried this before. I saw someone wear this on youtube and fell in love with nude lip, but sadly it doesn't work for the indian skin tone. I tried it with foundation and a light shade of pink, I loved it but I did not get good comments about it from friends and family. I think it can work well with the lighter skin tones. it's one of those things that you either look really good with or you can't rock it at all.

Hey Guys !
All excellent suggestions. You guys are excellent at improvising ! I tried it without the gloss and Oh dear God, if you will believe it was worse than this. And before that I tried it with very little concealer but since it wasn't as opaque you could still see the darkness of my lip - still bad.

I will next put up a list of my fav nude lipsticks ! Saves me from this lip scare ! LOL !

omg i laughed so hard at the title!
well i havent really tried this because somewhere inside i know it will look DUMB. some of the makeup tips out there are really idiotic and the best way to get a nude lip is to invest in a good nude lipstick!

I've got naturally dead lips, like the pale blueish pink that corpse get?

I try to stick with lipsticks that make me look NOT like the living dead!

Believe it or not this works for me, but I think the key is in using a foundation shade a tad darker than your normal skin tone . The other trick that I found that works is to use bronzer just like your orange lips post

Actually a good tip especially for desi girls is to put a little bit of foundation along with a little bit of cream blush (not too pink, but neutral or matching your skin tone with a slight pink tint) or little bit of cream bronzer mixed with your foundation. Nude lips are the toughest to pull off, but key is to remember to create a nude for you, and everyone will have a different nude shade ;-)
