I sent my mom pics from my recent Big bend trip and after saying the mountains were pretty she went to my hair. I am apparently her favorite daughter now, because I am a good girl who doesn't cut her hair off. She loves it when I keep it really really long, just the way it is now. I love it long too...but I wanna have it styled in some way. Right now it could be a bunch of black/brown threads hanging. All I've been doing is tying it up in a bun. Like this. Not even remotely glamorous.

So, I need your help. A lot of you out there are hair gurus. Help me with my hair please. Show me a hairstyle I could be proud of and never want to tie it up in a bun. I wanna keep the length but am willing to play around with any other thing. Bangs - yes, no problem. Layers- sure, I'd love a few. Straight is okay, wavy is fine too. I am not very fussy , I just want it to have some decent shape.

I have been collecting inspirational hair pics. If you have any pictures or ideas for me, please tell me about it. You can even email me : makeupgirl007@gmail.com

Help me out, please.
Love the long layers...

Love Hilary's waves

Love Reese...

Love,

lol, isnt it such an indian thing that girls cant have too short hair!

i always had long hair too, i only recently cut it, but i loooooove it being shorter, its so low maintenance, lol :)

my suggestion would be to get long layers, with maybe some diagonal bangs in the front to frame the face and eyes :)

the color looks nice, dont change it :)

Hi BabyJanny !

Totally an Indian thing ! I used have short hair a couple of years back and loved wearing cute tiny pony tails ! But now I wanna keep it long....Thank you for the suggestion ! I remember the diagonal bangs.
The color's au naturale :) Never colored my hair !

Lol,I agree with you it is a south asian thing. My husband was really mad at me for cutting my hair. The last time I cut it. Anyway, I like the second picture with the bangs it looks really glam yet you can play with it for every day. I put in long layers in my hair rather than the short ones in the last picture and that seems to be doing really well it's growing in nicely too. I haven't had a trim since January and my hair still has it's shape :)

The best haircut I ever had was the reverse bob that Posh has.

Now that my hair is super long again, I have experimented with a few styles, but mostly i love the side swept bangs and layers to lighten the load.

I would suggest you spend a more money for a cut at a high end salon. They often will sit and work with you before you get the cut.

You could get the hair style that Hillary Duff has!

But I would really suggest you to play around with hmm I don't remember the name:

It's fun! It can lighten up your hair a lot, and don't forget hair bands, and cute accessories!

my hair is exactly like urs, so i know how you feel. and my mom loves the long hair too lol :) south asian thing definately. if its long already, you have one thing going for you. i recently got a haircut where the inner most layer of my hair was rly long, and as it came outword, the hair got shorter. it looks rly nice, i also have side swept bangs and angles to make them blend in. i keep my hair wavy everyday but it looks amazing straight too.
wat hair products do u use to get ur hair soo shiny?? they bun is beautiful :)

I really like this style.

Hi Crissy !

I'm thinking fo long layers too. Short ones look like they are too much to maintain and if not done right they look like a mouse bit your hair off randomly :p

Hi Roxy !

Wow, Its been years since I had a bob. Thats right, I'm mainly looking for something to lighten the load. Sometimes it feels way too heavy...Side swept bangs are super cute. I love them on Jennifer Garner !

Hey Tamara !

Yea Hilary's waves are awesome. I need to buy me a curler....Oh and i love Nicole's hair in that pic ! I am so not crafty with my hands as far as hair goes. Must try the double braids !!

Hi Amna !

I have noted all of it down. I will take to my hairdresser and see if it will look good on moi. But from what I understand, it feels like it will take a lot of the weight off and that is exactly what I am looking for ! As far as the shiny hair goes , its all coconut oil :p I use before every hair wash and sometimes I keep it overnight.
Right now I'm using Loreal Vive products and Warren Tricome Walnut hair masque. Its pretty good but nothing beats coconut oil. Cheap and best !

Hi Anon !

That is a very cute style. I often do the one side tiny braid thingy but both the sides look cute too ! I love Whitney !

hey! i kind of had the same problem a while ago. i went and searched on your tube and they have these really easy to do and cool and sexy styles that you can try - put uur hair up. some of them are so easy & obvious but i never thought of them myself till i saw it in there. check it out. i think i might even have a playlist i made out of my favourites :)

once you put your hair up, you can really have fun sticking stuff in it. really ... sounds weird, but check out the videos!

ieevrytime my hair gets long - like now - i keep getting these mad urges to rush to the parlour and bob it at lunch time and come back transformed ... but i desist, because i know i will get bored of the bob next day. but maybe one day soon i wont be able to resist the temptation anymore :)

haircut wise, something i did yesterday to get my first happy with it instantly hair style was go through photos of all my old haircuts and find the ones i (i think) look the best in and take them to the stylist and combine them in some crazy way. and i also took a pic of priyanka chopra's hairstyle here, which i LOVED:

The best hairstyle i have seen is this one http://www.headkandy.com/blog/php/cheryl-cole-hair-extensions-2.jpg

Its elegant, but sexy looking, and a great look for long hair girls like us

hey there, I have the exact same problem too-- except half my family tells me to chop it and get a short bob, the other half tells me to keep it long and "beautiful in an indian way"
I recently became brave and cut my own fringe after a disappointing hair salon trip into a heavy face-framing fringe like penelope cruz on this page:
http://www.zimbio.com/Hairstyles+and+Haircare+101/articles/39/Autumn+Winter+Hairstyle+Will+choose+Heavy

but i have trained three quarters of it it to sweep to one side, so it suits my round face. the back of my hair has graduating layers like Amna described. Gets compliments all the time :) But if you have a oval face/bigger forehead, definitely go for kartina kaif/hilary duff's long side bangs and loose waves, if you're allowed to have permanent curls. And you can use henna, it gives it a lovely reddish tinge and is so conditioning, my mother and I do it on each other :)
