I was just making some green tea and suddenly decided to try the green tea face mask. The benefits of green tea are plenty. The antioxidants and the flavanoids in them fight free radicals and provide good anti aging benefits. So why not make use of something that would other wise just end up in the trash.

What I did was first to make my tea, cool the tea bag while I drank it. Ewww...I don't like green tea. I really do want to like it but no I don't. I really have to be in a " I can drink green tea now" kinda mood for me to even semi-enjoy drinking it. The only reason I gulp it down is because it is good for health. Coming back to the mask. Open the tea bag and get the tea leaves out into a small bowl. Now we need some adhesive for it to stick on my face. For that I added a bit of honey. Honey has several moisturizing, antiseptic properties apart from being a power house of antioxidants. I mixed the two ingredients and applied it liberally all over my face. Let all the goodness sink in !

Twenty minutes later I slowly washed it off. But not before gently rubbing the tea leaves all over my face. It actually acts as an excellent exfoliator while being very gentle on the face. So what happened when I washed it all off ? Lets see, I looked fresh and super clean. I don't have a lot of pores...but if I did then I am guessing they would be super clean too. The exfoliation left my skin soft and there was an all round brightness. The downside is that I felt a little dry and tight despite the honey ! So I guess this combo would be excellent for oily skin. For dry skin may be some Vitamin E / Almond oil with the tea would be a good choice. Overall, it wasn't a miracle mask but definitely much much better than some masks in the market that I've paid big bucks for !

Have you tried the green tea mask ? What do you think of it ?

Love,
Indian Girl

Hi, hun

I love your makeup blog- you do a great job with it!

I have tried some herbal remedies in the past and generally, honey has the tendency to "dry" - it sucks up the water content. This property is the reason why several ayurvedic doctors prescribe honey as a weight-loss strategy. But at the same time, they do not recommend it to women who have not had children because it can shrink organs somewhat.

Sorry, I didn't mean for the post to turn into an anatomy/ayurveda talk. Thanks for what you are doing! Love it! NN

I tried Arcona Green Tea Mask (Just because I read somewhere that Katherine Heigl uses it) but its really really nice..but only for summers! In winters I'm sure to fall sick if I use this one...its makes the skin super cool! So its my go to mask in summer...just a few months away!

this is a great idea for those old tea bags. i really like your idea of infusing the vitamins. i recently put one up on youtube that you might like. it uses green tea, rice flour and yogurt. it seriously works wonders on my face..you can just search "green tea cooling mask". take a look!

To get the benefit of green tea, if you can't drink it..look for green tea pills. They will give you same health benefits and you don't have to drink the bad flavored green tea.
