Almost everybody who is vegan / vegetarian and has gone online looking for recipes knows Lauren from her website VeganYumYum. Or wait, if it wasn't online you have definitely seen her on TV - on the Martha Stewart's show. Even if you are a meat eater you still know Lauren because it is impossible to miss her. Shez the one who makes everything look like God's food.I have tried out so many of her tofu recipes with super success. The marinade is just the tastiest thing ! I love Lauren's blog not just for the yummy recipes but also for the beautiful pictures of her dishes. Food has never looked this good ! Be it Tofu or Brussels Sprouts or any of those veggies you hate, she can make it look and taste delicious.

I have to tell you this, Lauren recently had a contest where she was giving away Apple Butter she made herself and a whooping 672 people entered it ! I shot out mails to all my friends asking them enter because I just had to taste it. I dint win it but I am willing to bet it was YUMMM...

Lets get to know Lauren's beauty secrets !

Which is your one "go to" makeup item?

Oh man. I pretty much never wear makeup, and when I do, it's very light. If I had to pick one thing, it'd be lip gloss, I suppose!

What beauty products do you have in purse right now?

Be Fine Lip Serum is the only beauty product in my purse. It's really nice, and vegan (which is hard to find in lip products), but ridiculously expensive for lip gloss. They call it Food Skin Care, so in a moment of weakness I bought a bottle. At least it's good!

What "beauty food" is a must for you?

I know what you eat correlates to how healthy you are, right down to hair, skin, and nails. But I can't say I eat anything specifically for beauty. I eat for tastiness! When I think of "beauty food" I think of the way the food looks, not the way I do!

What is your beauty / make up regiment before hosting a fabulous dinner party?

On the rare occasions I wear make up, I exfoliate and moisturize my face, use a light cream colored eye shadow, a little liner on my bottom lashes, mascara, a tiny bit of blush, and un-tinted lip gloss. The whole routine probably takes five minutes. I wear make up so rarely, my sister had to convince me to wear some on my wedding day, and even then, I did it myself. And it definitely took less than five minutes. I had to borrow her makeup because I didn't even bring any.

I try not to wash my face too much (I find I break out more when I wash it every day), so to freshen up and remove any oil, I make my own exfoliating scrub out of oatmeal and sea salt. I just whiz some rolled oats in my food processor (about 1 cup) and mix it with some sea salt and keep it in a jar in my bathroom. You just take a little in your hands and form a paste with warm water, then scrub your face. The oatmeal is soothing and moisturizing, and the salt is exfoliating. The great part is the salt dissolves in water, so you don't have to worry about over-scrubbing. And the smell is amazing; it's like a freshly baked muffin! It gives you super soft skin without stripping it completely.

What would you classify your make up regime as ?

Freshly scrubbed face and a big smile- is my go to look!

Thank you , Lauren !

Love,
Indian Girl

Nosh :
I am such a lazy bum...most often lipgloss / lipstick is all I use too ! My next step would be a hint of concealer. I wish I was more like you and actually used all the stuff I have ...

Any tips on how to put everything to use asap ?

My must haves in a hurry: tinted moisturizer (moisturizer and foundation if I have time), eyeliner, mascara, lipstick/gloss, blush if I truly look awful =) It's actually very fast, just takes some practice. I am very clumsy (get mascara all over the place), so it takes me about 5-7 min. Not bad, huh? =)
