Hello Ladies !

Finally I got around to making a post for Beat The Heat series. This one is going to be about hair care. I have listed a few tips/things to do to care for your hair this summer, in style ;)

1. The summer heat is not just about externally feeling hot but internally your body is sensing the heat too. This is one big reason why its easier to et irritated when you have been out all day in the scorching heat. One easy way to cool you body internally is to oil your scalp. You can use coconut oil / castor oil / almond oil / gingelly (thil) oil.

Apart from conditioning your hair, the oil helps regulate body temperature hence making you feel relatively calmer and cooler.

2. The top part of your scalp, the one that faces the sky is most prone to heat. Hence it is essential to protect this area when you are out in the sun.
You can do this by using a broad headband / a nice bandana. With the bohemian look being so "in" this summer, I would suggest using a chic bandana.
Now, it is important that you wear headbands / bandanas in colors that reflect light and not absorb it. So, it is advised to use white ones over black.

3. Hats are big accessories for summer. Apart form protecting your scalp and your hair they make awesome style statements! So go on girl, show them some attitude!
Check out some cute hats below.

4. I hate it when my hair comes on to my face during the summers and am always wearing a hair band to avoid it. But another awesome way to jazz up your hair would be to braid em! Yeah, remember the milkmaid braids and side braids you had on as a kid...yeah they are "in" now for adults!
I am so bad with braiding and I love love love Lindsay Lohan's braids here. Been trying so hard to duplicate it, with no luck :(

Check the VIDEO out on how to get these braids!

5. Do not blow dry your hair. It is bad enough the moisture gets sucked out of our hair during summers, now we dont want to aid it by blow drying out hair, do we? so, do not blow dry and just let your hair air dry on its own.
Another kool tip I learnt from this youtuber is to use Polyfiber head wraps. This looks especially useful for people with long and thick hair.

Check her VIDEO out.

6.Hair tends to get lighter and dry if you are out in the sun for a really long time. In order to avoid this, it is essential to use good hair protectant serums (with SPF) and leave in hair conditioners if you are planning on staying out in the sun for long periods of time.
Some recommendations would be :
- Tigi Bed Head - After Party Smoothing Cream
- Luster's Pink Sheen Oil Spray
- Beyond the zone - Turn up the heat flat iron protectant.
- Tigi Bed Head Ego Boost Leave in Conditioner

Hope these tips helped you guys and here's wishing you many more Happy Hair days!

Love,
Indian Girl

I like using mousse and leave in conditioner in the summer to tame my natural waves.
